Dear Members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation

We, the representatives of the Tajik Youth for the Revival of Tajikistan, address you with concern and a sense of responsibility. Today in Tajikistan, we are witnessing actions and policies that severely restrict the fundamental rights and freedoms of Muslims, and undermine the dignity and respect of Islam in our country.

The current policies of the Tajik government, led by Emomali Rahmon, violate the religious rights of the people. Among these actions are the ban on wearing the hijab for women, prohibiting individuals under the age of 18 from attending mosques, the ban on beards in public places, schools, and universities, as well as numerous other restrictive laws that limit religious freedoms. These actions not only restrict citizens’ rights but also put their faith under attack, fostering a sense of injustice and hopelessness within the society.

We firmly believe that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which was established to protect and unite the Muslim world, must take necessary measures in response to this critical issue. The Muslims of Tajikistan, as an inseparable part of the Islamic ummah, need your support. We ask that you apply pressure on the government of Tajikistan to amend these policies and laws that contradict Islamic values and human rights.

Additionally, we once again request that you take urgent action in relation to the illegal extradition of Suhrob Zafar and Nasimjon Sharifov, who were abducted by Tajik authorities from Turkey and brought unlawfully back to Tajikistan. They are currently serving long prison sentences, which is a violation of human rights and justice. We demand that you put pressure on the governments of Tajikistan and Turkey to ensure the return of these individuals to Turkey, where their rights would be respected.

The Muslims of Tajikistan and the broader Islamic community expect the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to take a clear and firm stance in defense of their religious freedoms, responding appropriately to unlawful acts and rights restrictions. Failure to resolve these issues promptly will undermine the trust of Muslims in Islamic organizations and religious values, which could have a negative impact on the future of the Muslim world.

With respect,
Tajik Youth for the Revival of Tajikistan
