On the occasion of the State Flag Day of Tajikistan, it is essential to reflect on the true significance of this national symbol with a realistic perspective. A flag, as an emblem of national identity, independence, and statehood, derives its value not merely from the physical height at which it is raised, but from the depth of its moral and symbolic worth in the eyes of the world. However, can raising the flag to a height of 165 meters truly reflect genuine respect for the nation and the state of Tajikistan today?
Currently, pride in the flag is loudly proclaimed in words, yet the actions do not align with these declarations. The current leadership, focused on personal dictatorship, has turned the flag into a tool for propaganda. Instead of raising the flag in the hearts of the people through justice, the protection of citizens’ rights, quality education, and economic development, it is merely elevated as a symbol to obscure the regime’s actual failures.
The flag should embody a nation characterized by freedom of thought, human rights, and real scientific and cultural achievements. However, in an authoritarian system where political freedoms are curtailed, corruption is rampant, and young people are forced to migrate to other countries in search of a better life, can the act of raising the flag hold genuine meaning?
The youth must recognize that the true revival of Tajikistan is only possible through unity, the fight against corruption, efforts toward political and economic reforms, and the assurance of equality for all citizens. The flag will truly be elevated when it ceases to be a mere symbol on paper and becomes a representation of a free, progressive, and democratic nation.
Rather than using the flag as an empty display, the country’s leadership must prove that the people and their rights are a priority. Only through such actions can the Flag of Tajikistan attain its true meaning and respect in the eyes of its citizens and the world.
Respectfully,
The Youth Organization for the Revival of Tajikistan
